The Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University is commonly known as Texas A & M University. It is located in College Station, and was the first public institution of higher education in Texas. It is the largest in the State of Texas and the sixth largest in the country. The Texas A&M Scentsy Warmer is part of the Scentsy College warmer collection.
Texas A & M was launched on October 4, 1876 and was known from that time up until 1963, as The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. It is one of the top 20 research universities in the United States. The proud colors of this university are maroon and white. As of July 1, 2012, the school is now part of the Southeastern Conference. The university has twenty sports teams, known as the Aggies, and many of the teams have won National Championships. The university’s mascot is an actual Rough Collie named Reveille VIII. Providing the music for University functions and also half time performances, is the The Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, which is the world’s largest precision military marching band.
Texas A & M’s archrival is the University of Texas. Almost every year since 1909, Texas A & M has built a large bon fire the night before their big game against the University of Texas as their “Burning desire to beat the hell outta them”. It started out as just a trash pile that they burned, but eventually evolved into a massive tiered structure. That was the tradition until 1999, when the whole thing collapsed, killing 12 people. The University suspended the bon fires indefinitely and it was no longer held on campus as an organized event. The tradition is still held, but it is off campus and the University isn’t involved in it. That annual football game between the two rivals is the most watched event and when they play against each other, it’s known as the Lone Star Showdown.
Texas A&M has one of the most active Alumni groups in America. There are many prominant former Aggies and we are happy to have it part of our Scentsy College Collection warmers.
