The University of Tennessee (also known as UT, UTK or Knoxville) is located in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is a historic university, with its origins having begun in 1794. Founded so shortly after our free nation formed, and only two years before Tennessee gained its statehood, UTK started out as a small, all-male school. Now, it has grown into a thriving school with a diverse student body that includes all genders and enthusiastic pupils from all 50 states and a great many foreign countries.

It also stays true to many beloved traditions, such as Smokey the hound dog, the Pride of the Southland Band, and “The Rock”.
