The University of Arizona (also referred to as UA or U of A), is located in Tucson, Arizona. It was the first university in Arizona and was founded in 1885, which was 27 years before Arizona even became a state. It is the only MD granting school in Arizona. The mission of the University of Arizona is, “To discover, educate, serve, and inspire.” The school colors are cardinal red and navy blue and the athletics teams are nicknamed the Wildcats. The Arizona Scentsy Warmer vibrantly displays the school colors and a large block “A” in the center.
University of Arizona’s athletics teams are nicknamed the Wildcats, and they participate in the NCAA’s Division 1-A in the Pacific-12 Conference. There is a strong athletic rivalry going between them and Arizona State University, which is located in Tempe, AZ. The big football rivalry game between the two teams is known as “The Duel in the Desert”. The university’s mascots are a couple wildcats named Wilbur and Wilma. Their identities are kept secret and they remain in costume throughout the year. In 1986, Wilbur finally married his longtime girlfriend, Wilma. Together, they appear at along with the cheerleading squad at most of the school events. Some notable alumni of the University of Arizona are Joan Ganz Cooney (the creator of Sesame Street), Linda Ronstadt, Greg Kinnear, Kourtney Kardashian, Luke Walton and many NASA astronauts and Pulitzer prize winners.
